Hayley - Buying Administrator

As the Buying Administrator for the Clothing Category here at Play.com, I am based in the Head Offices in Cambridge. I joined Play.com shortly after deciding to change my career having worked in the Marketing and Charity industry for 7 years.

I have been at Play.com for nearly a year now and as it turned out, not only did I choose a career path that suited my educational background, transferrable skills and personality, but I also joined an organisation whose values were important to me, and really believed in my personal development and ambitions.

The Clothing Category is growing here at Play and as such we have high targets and expectations to meet both internally and externally with all of the exciting new brands we are getting on board. There is a real sense of enthusiasm and determination both within our team and the wider organisation in which to push the category forward whilst also maintaining the loyalty of our current customer.

I am currently being trained to be an assistant buyer by a nominated mentor within the team. My performance is reviewed every quarter and then new objectives are set. I hope to achieve all of the skills and knowledge that I’d require in a buying assistant role – my next step up. My ambition is to attain these skills and industry knowledge over the coming months.

I am also a member of the Events Team which I love. There is a real opportunity to socialise in our relaxed but professional office environment. Quarterly social events organised and funded by the company, coupled with our partnership of various charities creates a great working culture.

I feel privileged to be part of the team taking the company successfully into the next ten years.
